Portugal, Spain, and France
I spent two weeks traveling throughout Portugal, Spain, and France and the experience was absolutely amazing. I went with a couple of really close friends and came back with even more. The things we got to do and see are unreal and truly couldn't be captured, even in the 600+ photos I took, and the thousands of others that the group has as a whole. I wish we would have had a camera crew following us around 24/7. We had some of the funniest things happen to us and around us...We tried so hard to be great ambassadors of America, but in turn looked like dorks all over Europe. It was well worth it though :)
I really understand now why people tend to love going abroad so much. I can't lie and say I didn't miss my friends and family and certain aspects of being home(good showers and understanding what people are saying about you) but the thrill of traveling and exploring was definitely there. I would love to go back, taking with me the things I missed most.
We had so many countless moments were we would just think "Is this real life? This has to be fake" because we were surrounded by so many beautiful places and landscapes. Especially when we were around monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Saint James Cathedral, or The Louvre Museum. It felt so surreal.
I can't believe I've already been back for a few days...I'm itching to plan another trip. I knew I was going on this trip back in October and now I've blinked and I've already been gone for 2 weeks and am back at home for the summer. Crazy that I'm now able to say I've done everything that we planned for months.
Since being home people seem to be interested in the trip and what all we did. I love telling the stories.
Like the one about the guy beside me on the 8 hour flight that told me I could sleep on his shoulder if I wanted ( I politely declined ) & the woman on the flight before who invited me to Ottawa - or the time when Kat spit water all over Abby across the table at a French restaurant - and the time Eryn watched as Sarah slammed me on the bed when I attempted to wrestle her in Spain - the time we got followed for a few minutes on the Subway in Paris - Engagement pictures - Chache the Fairy- catching treats- Mary Kate & Ashley- candid photos- that day the entire class was tipsy from a wine tasting and wine at lunch and then had to go to an archeologist dig - that jail of a hotel we stayed in - getting a little bit lost almost every day- walking tours by the river- food & wine - learning the do's and don'ts of each country-
all these things and so so so many more will be stories I hope I never forget & stories I hope to retell often. They truly mean so much to me and the people I experienced them with will always have a special connection with me. There aren't many people who can 100% relate to the things that we saw and did on the trip. It's a pretty unique bond we created within 2 weeks of travel. Though the class broke off into different smaller groups for a lot of things, as a whole we really interacted well and enjoyed each other's company. We all brought different things to the group dynamic and have our own stories to tell, so ask us! :) Make me explain my pictures and share my favorite things. This trip has so many aspects of it that I'd love to relive and share with anyone willing to listen. I feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful and safe trip. I'm so lucky to have experienced such an incredible two weeks with some of the most wonderful people <3
