Cruelty is never excusable.

I just saw a picture online that is too graphic to show.

A man tied his dog to the back of his motorcycle and dragged it in the street. the dog looks severely injured with its skin being worn down and exposing the bones of its leg.

Seriously whoever you are, you are a disgrace.  Even though I'm aware that there is evil in the world sometimes I'm still absolutely appalled by behaviour.  Where in the world do you get the idea that you can treat any living thing in that way?  and WHY in the world would you do it?  That's sick and twisted and disgusting. I can't imagine that anyone who acts in such a way has any redeeming qualities.

I have a stream of awful things running through my head that I'd love to say to whoever this sick man is...one of the first and most g-rated would be "Go to hell."
I'm upset that someone that cruel even exist. If you're that awful of a person you could at least have the dignity to leave innocent people/animals alone....but that would just be asking too much.

I guess a lesson in all this and the only thing keeping me from being absolutely heartbroken over this treatment is the fact that there are people who help.  There is someone out there who stopped the man and helped the innocent dog.  There are people who stand up to those who do wrong and who change the circumstances for animals or humans that they see.  These people aren't afraid of the awful behaviors of others and they take a risk.  They risk their own comfort in order to save others from cruelty and pain. And these people are the everyday heroes that deserve recognition.  They deserve the accolades and praise of those around them.  They set a wonderful example for everyone who witnesses their brave actions.  And they can stop the evil. We can stop the evil. It happens all the time and all we really need to do is take a deep breath, gather our courage, and give voice to the voiceless.  Sometimes we have to stand up to someone and force them to acknowledge their wrongdoings.

All it takes is one person reaching out.  I know some people may not value the life of an animal like I do, and if that is the case you can at least relate to the principle.  Cruelty is never excusable.  Treating anything or anyone with malicious intent shouldn't be allowed and it shouldn't be accepted. That's why we need those everyday heroes to slowly but surely cause a shift.  A shift that will make us focus more on love and compassion.  A shift that will allow us to view our interconnectedness.  A shift that will allow us to realize that reaching out and loving is so much more rewarding than anything that comes from a place of darkness or hate within us.

In moments like this I'm glad to have a blog.  A place I can immediately go with a sometimes needed rant.  Even if this message reached 1 person, that's 1 person that is standing up...one person that isn't afraid to reach and love, no matter what the consequence.
