(twenty-two)
The week I turned 22, and didn't know how I felt about it. I ended up having a wonderful birthday and couldn't really ask for more. I got to go home with one of my best friends, have a home cooked meal, and spend time with my parents. Next, I was fortunate that the snow didn't stop a great group of friends from going to eat and then out and about downtown. It was a really fun night and I'm thankful for each and every person who wished me happy birthday or made the day extra special and memorable.
My first day after turning 22 was somewhat hilarious. My roommate got to laugh hysterically at me multiple times throughout the day . All starting with a "You should probably go." and continuing with me slipping all over the place. -- I almost fell on ice/snow (twice) only catching myself with the hood of my car and a bush outside my favorite sushi restaurant. And all this happened after I windshield wiper'ed an entire sheet of snow into my driver side door. (Note to self: don't leave the door open when doing that). After watching hours of "Friends" and being safely in bed and asleep, I rammed my head into the wall trying to pull my sheets out from under my feet. Needless to say 'ouch'.
Here's a little dabble of a poem I wrote the other night about good ole' (twenty-two).
(twenty-two)
growing up on dreams made of
legos and sprinkler days
(twenty-two) seemed impossibly far
far away in a magical land
where parents voices blend the
truths of future and potential with
princesses and shining stars.
years have passed and clocks have melted
into laughter and love,
minutes lost but they can always
be found again -
with each plastic brick placed
and drop absorbed
(twenty-two) has an ability
reaching beyond crayon colored
moons and beams
though the future is blurred
by uncertainty of paths
dandelion compasses will
always - always
guide me home.
be love.
