On the way down
Long time, no blog.
So after a few friendly pushes, and a beautiful night on the patio - I wrote this little thing :)

So after a few friendly pushes, and a beautiful night on the patio - I wrote this little thing :)
On the way down
Drawing all your attention
a deep blue canvas, perfect and crisp
held only one bright star and a goodnight moon.
Waiting, writing, and even pleading wouldn't bring it down.
So you tried to hold on, perhaps a little too tight.
I heard you once, say hello to the cratered disk, your closest neighbor -
light years away.
I saw that you never once loosened your grip on that chosen star
desperate to create an everlasting constellation.
I wanted to tell you that
stars burn brightest before they fade away for good.
You pulled closer when crisp turned cold
and you did not blink when your orb shimmied free,
but I watched your eyes lose focus and then they twirled into oceans -
vast and full of far too many droplets.
On the way down you flinched and reached to the sides, grasping at air.
I tried to wave, but it was too late -
you were finally seeing all the twinkling
that was once dimmed by your distorted belief
that infinity did not exist within your own beams.
be love.
