I just saw that "Am I ugly? Videos" were trending on Yahoo. So having no idea what this is about I decided to check it out.

This is the link I looked into http://abcnews.go.com/US/teens-post-insecurities-youtube-pretty-ugly-videos/story?id=15777830

Essentially, a 13 year old girl who gets bullied all the time took to Youtube for some opinions. She wanted to know if people think she is a pretty or not, because at school those who aren't her friends constantly tell her she isn't.
It honestly pisses me off.  The fact that this girls looks are even a topic of discussion in middle school or at all is ridiculous. Thirteen year old girls shouldn't be that concerned about vanity. You have decades ahead of  you were you'll be even more exposed to unrealistic expectations and standards.

You're 13 and you're beautiful no matter what anyone says. You have so much potential at that age. You have so much hope. You shouldn't be taking it away from one another when the world is going to try and take it from you regardless. You however are ugly when you tear others down and are vicious. Sure, very few people are so pure that they walk around constantly thinking positively about everyone around them. I'll be the first to admit that in no way shape or form am I close to perfectly nice to everyone. I think or say things I shouldn't on occasion. But I'd like to think that I don't do things out of spite, that I don't try to hurt people. This other treatment that you can see constantly is hurtful and intentional. It is just ugly and mean and uncalled for.

The sad thing is is that it happens all the time. It doesn't just happen to girls, it doesn't just happen when you're thirteen. It happens constantly. And it shouldn't. It shouldn't because we should all try to encourage one another. Who knows what we could accomplish if everyday we faced "You look great." or "You're going to do so well."
The next time I'm straying from being encouraging to others I'm going to think of this quote:

"When you judge another, you do not define them. You define yourself." -Wayne Dyer
