little reminders
my friend Lauren who is also a loyal follower of the blog said I needed to make a new post....I'm sorry I haven't been blogging as much!! I hope this makes up for it and will get me back in the groove.
Sometimes everyone needs little reminders about things. Things they need to do, things they need to remember, things they should appreciate.
If you look around my room and on bookshelves there are little reminders of simple ways to act and lessons in how to live your life. I have a books from friends and family or books I've picked up along the way that truly have important meaning.
Whitney gave me one called "Now is the the Time" full of quotes and words of wisdom about seizing the day and ways that you can quickly and easily be happy. I have books from my mom that are full of hearts both created and found naturally in nature. 101 things to do before you graduate college. writers toolbox. Bartlett's: words to live by.
All of these things act as little reminders of how beautiful and wonderful life can be. It can be a quick and simple way to make you pause, if only for a moment, and change your perspective. These reminders can give you a boost of positive thinking.
My friends Johnna and Kelly have the book of "Awesome" which details 1000 awesome everyday things. Whitney also told me about the website having no idea that I'd seen the book on my friends coffee table months before (which I bought from Walmart a few days later). Everyone should check out the website http://1000awesomethings.com/ and may even be interested in picking up a copy to set on your own coffee table.
Wouldn't it be awesome if everyday we thought of our thing that made us happy on that particular day. Something simple and unique, almost so small that you don't even pay it any attention. Like how great leftover pizza can be. Or that it finally rained today. Something that seems so mundane and everyday but can turn into something awesome just by you stopping and noticing it.
I got a canvas yesterday that I'm hoping to hang at school but for now it is in my bedroom at home. Its a black background with all different sized color and text with some little reminders that will always be ways in which I hope to live my life.
This is your LIFE. Find a passion and pursue it. Fall in love. Dream big. Drink win, eat great food and spend quality time with good friends. Laugh everyday. Believe in magic. Tell stories. Reminisce about the good old days but look with optimist to the future. Travel often. Learn more. Be creative. Spend time with people you admire. Seize opportunities when they reveal themselves. Love with all your heart. Never give up. Do what you love. BE true to who you are. Make time to enjoy the simple things in life. Spend time with family. Forgive even when it's hard. Smile often. Be grateful. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Follow your dreams. Try new things. Work hard. Don't count the minutes, count the laughs. Embrace change. Trust in yourself. Be thankful. Be nice to everyone. Be happy. Live for today. And above all...make every moment count.
and all these things I wish for you.

ReplyDeleteLove this post. Can you tell me where you got the canvas from? I've been searching high and low for it with no luck.
ReplyDeleteI got this at Marshalls. TJMaxx has had it too. They now have smaller ones and different colors the last I saw at TJMaxx.
