great combinations
Next week is going to be insane. I have 2 midterms, a paper, and a quiz, add to that tennis practice starting again and 'Greek Week' .... ahhh.
But I'll get thru it, we college students always do. One way or another.
Before the hectic week starts though I'm going to try my best to enjoy the weekend.
Today has kicked it off to a great start. You know the feeling when a few little things line up to make everything seem excellent? A walk downtown for a delicious lunch, beautiful warm weather with a taste of spring, my roommate and I finally being able to open our jammed windows, and great music while I do work [ kind of ;) ]....sigh...It's nothing incredibly earth shattering but its pretty awesome to me.
Finding an inner peace and comfort in things, there is nothing like the feeling. Being able to enjoy the little things like the leaves blowing outside and the wind rushing by our open window is something so small that you have to really pay attention to appreciate it. If I can slow down just enough I can soak it all up and let the beautiful pieces of life fall together perfectly and everything seems almost effortless.
In a book I'm reading called Happiness by Matthieu Ricard he says that:
It is knowing how to enjoy the present moment, the willingness to nurture altruism and serenity and to bring the best part of ourselves to mature -- transforming oneself to better transform the world.
So by enjoying the present moment and taking it all in, we could be bettering ourselves and in turn bettering the world. Sounds simple enough, lets do it.
