Be the Change: Save a Life
It's the first night of Winter Break...WOO I know I'm not the only excited one out there.
Tonight I've wasted some time watching T.V., but it is kind of expected considering no school and all.
However, the past hour has been time well spent, very well spent.
ABC has a new program called Be the Change: Save a Life. http://saveone.net/ . It really is an uplifting program about how ordinary everyday people become inspired and then become active.
Students from Stanford designed a sort of incubator that is less than 200 dollars but will save thousands of lives, they all moved to India together.
Another young guy went from buying 500 dollar bottles of champagne to living in Africa working to give people wells in their villages...and those are just two examples of the amazing things that took place on this show.
Be the Change is going to be a year long journey with its viewers, providing updates throughout the year.
I just was looking on the website and saw that Mandy Moore has been working with them. She is a music star, actress, and even an ambassador for "Population Services International". I think that last one on that list made me like her even more
Seriously this show was really incredible. It provided easy to understand facts, facts that matter. It was uplifting. I predicted that it would be sad and bring me to tears but it wasn't like that at all. The goal was to inspire & it really did.
Now I know I may not change the world tomorrow but I'm determined to someday. Education on problems can lead to us (you & me) figuring out the solutions one day. We really can change the world. & while it may be overwhelming to know there are always going to be more people to help, I think that can be looked at as motivation instead. Motivation to know that you can make a difference to someone and only have room to grow.
Check out this program and be inspired to help in America maybe even down the street, or all the way around the world.
It truly is awesome to see people who could have lived moderate and happy lives take a path that changed the world and gave them incredible irreplaceable lives and amazing experiences to go along with it.
